| It's Raining Marriage! (Hallelujah?) |
[Apr. 19th, 2009|07:28 am] |
Okay, I have three things to say about the "Growing Storm" anti-gay-marriage commercial and then I will STFU about it:
1) I'm sorry, but the acting really is horrible. And I say that without having seen the audition tapes. But I mean to say, if these are the actors that made it...
2) Of all the parodies, I think Stephen Colbert's made me laugh the hardest. Then again, he always makes me laugh, unless he's embarrassing a politician, in which case I have to put it on mute because I get too embarrassed myself.
3) Really, anti-gay-marriage people? Really? The economy's in the shitter, terrorism and piracy are on the rise, we've got at least two wars going, the polar ice caps are melting, people don't have decent education and health care, one of the world's richest countries has people living in cardboard boxes on the street, and the thing that scares you most is... gay people getting married? Really? |

| SCHIP: WTF? |
[Jan. 14th, 2009|10:29 am] |
You know, I wouldn't have thought anyone was enough of a bastard to vote against giving poor children health care, but here are all these fuckers conservative Congresspeople on C-SPAN blathering on and on about illegal immigrants and non-pregnant adults and doctor-owned hospitals and I just want to hit them all really hard with a large herring. Or possibly a bat. |

Who really voted for Prop 8?
The study finds that after taking into account the effect of church attendance, support for Proposition 8 among African Americans and Latinos was not significantly different than other groups. Through a precinct-by-precinct analysis and review of multiple other sources of data, the study also puts African-American support for Proposition 8 at no more than 59 percent, nowhere close to the 70 percent reported the night of the election. Finally, the study shows how support for marriage equality has grown substantially across almost all California demographic groups — except Republicans. |

1) Other than my entire family getting the stomach flu for Christmas (most likely from my niece), our Holiday Season (TM) has been okay so far, if a bit low-key.
2) Speaking of my niece, she is probably off somewhere being adorable as we speak. It's one of her main talents in life, the others being a) nonsense syllables, b) rolling over, and c) playing peekaboo.
3) Note to self: next time you decide to drive an hour and a half from your parents' house to your apartment for the weekend, make sure you remembered to pack your happy pills. Whoops.
4) Erasing penciled-in notes from textbooks to increase their resale value is more entertaining than I previously suspected.
5) Right, that's it. Back to work, self. |

So, I trust you've all heard about Rod Blagojevich, the Illinois Governor, who got busted for trying to solicit bribes in exchange for Obama's Senate seat?
Turns out the reason he got busted is he blabbed to the wrong person.
Beautiful. |

| Good Mor- er Afternoon |
[Nov. 25th, 2008|09:45 am] |
This winter weather is definitely having an effect on my sleep cycle. Specifically, it's lengthening it.
Honestly, I didn't even know I could sleep until one in the afternoon without the aid of NyQuil. Which I did yesterday. Yikes. |
